The Dynamics of Identity and Belonging

Dennis Mitchell.

Expressing self through the objects or images we produce helps to develop self and identity. In sharing this with others we develop belonging. I want to illustrate how I have developed my identity and belonging through the production of my sculptures over the last thirty years of production.

I will give clear examples of the work I have made as well as comparisons of how my art has documented and correlate my personal development and identity. Likewise I will show how my art work has taught me where I get my interests, why I return to those interests along with how these items tell me where I belong and how I believe.
